Philippe Real del Sarte was born in Saint Jean de Luz in 1943. In 1967, he studied at the Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

For years, his artistic curiosity has driven him to explore different subjects such as visual communication, sceneography, theatre costumes, dramatic art, and design. He has also directed several advertising agencies and fashion magazines. He has created music, sets and costumes for such plays as Peer Gynt, and Brand by Ibsen and Michael Kolaas by Kleist.

Gradually his obsession with painting, his knowledge of painters and Iberian myths, his fascination with bullfighting as well as his curiosity for the Latin world, became his first concern.

Now, he has answered his true calling to pursue his passion: painting. He lives and works in Paris.
